Jumio Inc. is headquartered in Mountain View, California and runs offices in Austria, India and Russia. The company was founded in 2010 by Daniel Mattes and employs around 50 people. Jumio has a total funding of $ 32 million to date.

Jumio’s advisory board includes Zain Khan, former Google executive, Mark Britto, former Amazon executive, Thomas Jungreithmeir, managing director of TJP and Bjorn Evers, former gaming industry CEO. Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin and Scott Weiss, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, have seats on the board of directors.

Netswipe is a high end solution for credit card payments. Internet users can choose to either type in credit card details manually, or quickly swipe their card online. Netswipe offers either way and guarantees maximum security. Netverify is the world’s first solution to verify an ID (a driving licence or a passport) online. Users briefly hold their ID in front of their camera for a quick scan.

Jumio opens development center in Linz, Austria. Product development starts.

Jumio in stealth mode. Initial website with sneak preview videos and blog goes live.

June 2010
First recruitment drive: 15 people work for Jumio across the US and Austria with plans to employ up to 100 developers in 2012.

December 2010
Second recruitment drive: Jumio expands to 35 people across the US, Sweden, UK and Austria.

January 2011
Advisory board announcement: Internet pioneers Zain Khan (former Google executive), Mark Britto (former Amazon executive) and Maarten Linthorst (former NASA partner) and Bjorn Evers, former CEO of one of the largest online gambling groups join the advisory board.

Pre-sales activities start, prospective trial clients are being secured.

Closing of $6.5m Series-A round of financing. Eduardo Saverin, the co-founder of Facebook, joins Jumio. Eduardo leads the round as a private investor and joins the team as active member of the board of directors.

Trial client implementation starts. Jumio’s flagship product Netswipe is being tested with a selected focus group of 2500 users.
