How Jumio works – The difference between video streaming and snapshots
Netswipe is a PCI ready solution that turns any webcam into a secure card reader. The computervision technology behind Netswipe reads the card via a secure video stream. Netswipe does not take a snapshot of the card.
The video stream analyzes the features and movements of the card on a secure server layer. Netswipe’s card reader is able to recognize all security features of a real credit or debit card. For instance, the technology can analyze embossed data and holograms. A wide range of checks apply to guarantee that the actual card is held in front of the webcam by the owner.
Once the card is analyzed, a digital fingerprint of the card is encrypted and transferred to the processing bank. Netswipe does not display any card data on the server during the entire process. The trained recognition system analyzes with extreme precision through algorithms (error rate as of July 2011: 1 : 1.000.000).
